Two of the BLOODHOUD SSC designers, Bjorn Rödde and Will Krawszik, are on secondment to the project from the Institute of Innovation (IN2) at Swansea University.

In May 2007, Richard Noble came to Swansea University to meet with the Head of IN2, Professor Marc Clement. Excited to get involved in such an iconic project, Marc decided immediately that IN2 would support BLOODHOUND.

Bjorn Rödde’s project management experience for Technium Performance Engineering, together with a part-time secondment to one of Richard Noble’s previous projects, provided the ideal background to fulfil the role. He was brought on board straight away and is a BLOODHOUND Design Engineer, also responsible for the vehicle’s Bill of Materials and Vehicle Technical Specification (VTS) as well as providing CAD system management and procurement support.

Following the project’s rapid growth, IN2’s Will Krawszik joined the BLOODHOUND Design Team in October 2008. Given Will’s background in transmission design, his first tasks have included designing a transmission assembly as well as the structure required to manufacture a full-scale BLOODHOUND mock vehicle, which will be used throughout the detailed design phase.

IN2 embraces the sprit of Open Innovation and uses a range of mechanisms for engaging industry with academia. Particularly relevant to many members of the BLOODHOUND Design Team is the Employer Study Partnership mechanism, which has enabled them to register their BLOODHOUND design work for a Master’s degree at Swansea University.
